There are many cycles we can work with inside the goddess-centered lifestyle. The astrological seasons. The moon cycles. And then there is the Wheel of the Year, the ancient cycle of sabbats that ancient ancestors used to stay connected to the earth, to the seasons, and to themselves.
Beltane is one of the most powerful stops on that wheel.
Celebrated from the evening of April 30th through May 1st, Beltane is the fire festival that marks the beginning of summer. It sits at the midpoint between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. It is also one of the cross-quarter days, which makes it liminal. The veil between our world and the spirit world is thinner. The energy is more accessible. And that matters, because Beltane is not just a celebration. It is a tool for staying aware, staying connected, and staying aligned.
🔥 The Fire
If you take one thing from this post, let it be this. Fire is the center of everything at Beltane.

In the old traditions, communities built large bonfires on hilltops. Cattle were driven between two fires for purification and protection. People jumped over the flames for luck, fertility, and courage. Household fires were extinguished on the eve of April 30th and relit the next morning from the communal bonfire, so that every hearth carried the same sacred flame. New fire for a new season.
Fire transforms. Fire inspires. Fire activates. Fire brings rawness and courage and bravery. And the earth at Beltane is fully awake, receiving everything the fire offers. Both are active. And really and truly, that is who we are as human beings.
In 2026, fire is an especially important energy. We have several planets moving through Aries this Beltane season, so we are already swimming in fire. The question is whether we are going to use it with intention or let it burn through us without direction.
And here is the other thing. There has been such an attack on women right now. This is exactly why we need to tap into that inner fire. That inner wild woman. The part of us that refuses to shrink, that is confident and courageous and unapologetically free. Beltane is a sabbat about freedom. About being alive in your body without apology. And this is a season where we get to claim that, individually and collectively.
🕯️The Thin Veil and Your Ancestors
Most people associate the thin veil with Samhain, and that is true. But Beltane sits directly opposite Samhain on the Wheel of the Year. At both of these turning points, the veil between our world and the spirit world is thin.
If you have an ancestor practice, Beltane is a beautiful time to work with them. If you do not, you can simply remember them. Light a candle and say their names. Acknowledge the women who came before you and made it possible for you to be here. That is enough. That counts.
Your Wild Woman, Your Creatrix, and the Power of Sensuality
Beltane is a festival of fertility, and that fertility is not just about having babies. It is about creative energy. Sexual energy. The energy of bringing something new into the world. And two archetypes are prominent this season.
The first is the Wild Woman. She is the part of you that is untamed, free, and fully alive. She does not ask for permission. She moves from instinct. She trusts her body. Beltane has always been her sabbat, because this is a season that was never meant to be controlled. People danced around fires. They went into the woods on May Eve. They let their bodies lead. The Wild Woman is that energy, and she is asking you to stop holding yourself back.
The second is the Creatrix. She is the part of you that makes things, that births ideas and projects and art and beauty. Creativity is high during Beltane. The earth is producing. Everything is growing. And that same energy wants to move through you.
What connects these two archetypes is sensuality. And I want you to hear me when I say this. Sensuality is a power tool for women. It is not extra. It is not indulgent. It is how we access our creative force, our intuition, our aliveness. And it is heightened right now because we are in Taurus season. Taurus is the sign that says, be in your body. Enjoy what is here. Slow down and feel it.
So pleasure is important right now. The world is heavy. But that does not mean we stop living. Dance. Cook something that smells good. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful. Sit in the sun and actually feel it on your skin.

This is also a powerful time to activate your relationship energy. Whether you are in a relationship or not, if you want to bring more fire, more sensuality, more connection to your love life, Beltane supports that.
And crown yourself this season. In the old traditions, the May Queen was crowned with flowers as the living embodiment of the season's beauty and power. You do not need a community to select you. Make yourself a flower crown, real or artificial.
Acknowledge yourself as the May Queen of your own life.
🌿 Simple Ways to Honor Beltane
You do not need a bonfire on a hilltop. You do not need special tools. Beltane does not require anything of you that you cannot give.
Extinguish and Relight. On the evening of April 30th, blow out every candle in your house. On the morning of May 1st, light one fresh candle and use it to light the rest. New fire for a new season.
Salt Your Threshold. Sprinkle salt at your front doorway and light a candle near the entrance. This welcomes the season's energy in while keeping anything unwanted out.
Yellow Flowers on Your Doorstep. In the Celtic tradition, yellow flowers were placed at doorways for protection. Yellow flowers also carry the energy of Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of love, beauty, and sweetness. Grocery store marigolds by your front door honor both traditions at once.
Step Over a Candle. Place a candle safely on the ground and step over it. Set an intention before you do. What are you leaping into this season?
Or keep it simple. A flower on the table. A meal made with something fresh and green. A moment outside where you feel the sun. That counts. That is Beltane.
Your Beltane practice is part of a living tradition that has been adapted and reinvented for over a thousand years. There is no single correct way to observe it. There never was. And if it feels like you are making it up, you are. And that is fine. That is the goddess way.

Journal Prompts for Beltane

Take one of these and sit with it. A single honest sentence counts.
1. If the Beltane fire could burn one thing out of your life completely, a pattern, a belief, a habit, what would you feed to the flames?
2. If pleasure were a priority instead of a reward, something you built your days around rather than squeezed in after everything else, what would change?
3. What part of you is ready to be visible? Not the whole garden, just one bloom.
A Beltane Reading for the Collective
Readings are how we check in with ourselves at the turning points of the cycle. Beltane is one of those turning points. The light half of the year is beginning, and a reading helps you see what is shifting so you can work with the season instead of just letting it pass.

I pulled a Crossroads Spread using my Mythical Goddess Tarot deck, and the message is clear. We are standing at a crossroads, and this is a season to pause and get honest about which direction you want to take. Whatever you have been holding on to that is blocking your next step, release the brakes. Let it go so what is trying to birth through you can come without resistance.
Your creative fire is pushing through right now. The Creatrix in you is waking up, and as she rises, she is burning away everything that has been sitting on top of her, the limitations, the doubt, the heaviness. At the same time, there is a deep emotional cleansing happening. Old grief, old pain, ready to be washed clean. Let it move through you. What is on the other side of that release is wholeness.
Ground yourself in community this season. Share what you have learned. Receive what other women are offering. That exchange is your foundation while everything else shifts.
And stay open, because what is blooming is abundance. Lakshmi showed up as the only major arcana in this spread, and she changes everything. She is the goddess of fortune, the divine mother of abundance and prosperity in all forms. She carries what is called the boon of blessings, and her blessings often arrive when you least expect them.
That boon might be financial in nature. It might be a boon of wisdom, a perspective that shifts something and brings about a healing. It might be a creative blessing that flows through your community.
Lakshmi is also deeply connected to spiritual principles. Her abundance comes through alignment, through connecting with the laws of the universe and living according to them. She is spiritual enlightenment embodied. And considering that we are in Taurus season, which is that earthy, grounded energy of wholeness and having enough, that tracks.
Here is what I want you to remember. Abundance is a flow that moves through you. You are naturally abundant. Lakshmi is not bringing you something from the outside. She is asking you to connect with your inner Lakshmi, to align with that creative flow where blessings come through into real, tangible life. This season is asking you to stop bracing and let it in.
